Matt Asahara
Physical Therapist
Matt began working with athletes both on and off the field from high school to Division I, while earning his degree in Athletic Training from Washington State University in 2011. He went on to obtain his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Pacific University in 2015 and has been with PRO Sports Club/ PRO Medical Physical Therapy ever since.
Matt specializes in the prevention, protection, diagnosis, and treatment of injuries. His evaluation approach is rooted in the Functional Movement Systems, incorporating the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (multi-segmental joint testing), the Functional Movement Screen (exercise-based testing), and the Functional Capacity Screen (advanced return-to-sport testing).
He is certified in several treatment methods, including Integrative Dry Needling, the Graston Technique, the Kinesio Taping Method, and the MyoKinesthetic System.
Matt believes in a collaborative approach to patient care and encouraging patients to take an active role in their recovery while coordinating with an interdisciplinary team to achieve the best outcomes. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys playing and watching sports and has a passion for great food (though he dislikes the term “foodie”).
